Rayagada: The 7th anniversary celebration of GTV Bharat Odia Digital News Channel was held at the local Lions Club, presided over by Mr. Ramdas Lima, the founder and editor-in-chief of the channel. Former DCC President of Congress and State Editor Durga Prasad Panda formally inaugurated the program.
Mr. Saptagiri Shankar Ullaka, Member of Parliament for Koraput Lok Sabha, attended as the chief guest. He delivered a speech on digital media and extended his best wishes to GTV Bharat Odia. Mr. Appalaswamy Kadraka, MLA of Rayagada, joined as the guest of honor and emphasized the importance of providing adequate facilities to democratic representatives and the fourth pillar of democracy. Journalist Badal Kumar, also a guest of honor, highlighted the challenges faced by journalists.
The keynote speaker, Mr. Abinash Mishra, discussed the impact of the digital age and the rise of digital media on print and electronic media. He pointed out that while it takes 12 to 24 hours to publish news in print media and 2 to 4 hours in electronic media, digital and social media spread news almost instantly. However, he cautioned that the pursuit of TRPs and views sometimes leads to exaggerated and misleading news.
During the event, GTV Bharat Odia honored several distinguished guests and individuals. Newly elected Koraput Lok Sabha MP, MLA Rayagada, MLA Bishmaktak, MLA Gunupur, and senior Congress leader Durga Prasad Panda felicitated Senior Journalist Rayagada Yogeshwar Das. Among those honored were Ms. Pooja Ullaka as a women leader, Deepak Kumar Prusty as the best journalist of GTV Bharat 2024, and Mr. Ashwani Kumar Das, Director of Datapro and Bachpan English Academy, as an educator. Mr. Inder Das Fandanani was recognized as a senior citizen and social worker, Dr. Jagannath Subudhi as a social worker, and Yogi Bandhu Majhi as an exemplary Sarpanch.J
ournalists Gauri Shankar Patnaik, Guru Prasad Sahu, Shiv Prasad Padhi, and Ranjan Kumar Mohanty were felicitated for their significant contributions and cooperation in making the 7th anniversary of GTV Bharat Odia a success. The event was attended by journalists from district headquarters, journalists working in different areas, lawyers, volunteers, educationists, senior citizens, and intellectuals.
