Mount Manungil: The West Indies have started their campaign with a win in the edition of the ICC Women's Daily Cricket World Cup in New Zealand. In the inaugural match at Mount Manungil in the Oval on Friday, West Indies beat New Zealand by 3 runs thanks to a century by Haley Mathews. West Indies batted first and scored 256 for seven in 50 overs. Helle Matthews scored 119 off 124 balls with 14 fours and a six. Chiden Nathan (36), captain Stephanie Taylor (30), Simen Kambel (20) and Dentra Dutton (12) were the top scorers for New Zealand, with Leah Tahu taking 3 and Jesse Kerr 2 wickets each. New Zealand's Shophia Divine's all-time winning target of 260 was all out for 256 in 7.5 overs. Captain Shofia Divine scored 104 off 124 balls with 10 fours. Katie Martin (9), Amy Setherweet (31) and Jesse Kerr (25), among others, scored. For the West Indies, Haley Mathews, Anisa Mohammed and Dendra Dayton took two wickets each. Hailey Matthews was named Player of the Match.
