New Delhi, Dt.07/8. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Anoop Chandra Pandey on Sunday jointly signed the election certification of Jagdeep Dhankhar as the next Vice President of India. With this the process of election of the 14th Vice President of the country was completed.
According to the Election Commission, the process of election of the Vice-President began on July 5th with the publication of the program notification in the Gazette. It culminated today with the signing of the election certification of Jagdeep Dhankhar as the fourteenth Vice President of India.
The signed copy of the certification was handed over to the Union Home Secretary. It will now be read during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Vice President on August 11.
The Election Commission has appreciated the entire team of Returning Officer, ECI Observer, Delhi Police, CRPF for their excellent cooperation in the conduct of Vice Presidential election.
It is noteworthy that National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar was declared elected in the results of the elections held on Saturday for the post of Vice President. His election was announced late in the evening by Utpal Kumar Singh, the General Secretary of the Lok Sabha and the Returning Officer for the Vice-President's election.
