Bhubaneswar(PR)Under the aegis of the Indian Bureau of Mines, Bhubaneswar region, 24th Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation Week (MEMC) was observed by Utkal Alumina International limited, a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries limited of Aditya Birla Group from 18th December 2022 to 24th December 2022 at Baphlimali Bauxite Mines.
The purpose behind this celebration is to create awareness about mines environment and mineral conservation among employees and other stakeholders.During this weeklong celebration, various awareness events and programs such as essay, slogan & posters competitions were organised among the employees of mines.
On 21stDecember 2022, the Baphlimali Bauxite Mine was inspected by the delegates of inspection team Mr. BrajBinod-Head Operations, Tata Steel Ltd., Mr. AnukulChBiswal-AVP, JSW and Dr. Saroj Kr Dash-Sr. Manager, Rungta Sons (P)Ltd. The program was followed by an awareness programmewhich was organised at Nuapada Club house in presence of the delegates, employees, family members, stakeholders, and workers.
Mr. Mazharullah Beig(Unit Head & President-Utkal Alumina International Ltd.), graced the occasion as Chief Guest and joined by the delegates from Tata Steel, JSW and Rungta Sons Pvt Ltd. Mr. Mukesh Kumar Jha, Head Mines, Mr. KausikisaranMisra-HeadRefinery Operations, Dr. Lopamudra Priyadarshini-Head, CSR, PR and CR, Mr. Sanjay PardhiManager Minesand Mr. Krishna Ch Jyotishi-HeadGeology were among the dignitaries present and joined the dias with Chief Guest. Deliberations on Mines environment and mineral conservations, awareness skits and dances by the children are some of the major events of the program
Shri Mazhar Beig- Unit Head & President of Utkal Alumina applauded the effort of IBM for mentoring and spreading the noble message of Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation among the people. He also acknowledged the effort of Mines team of Utkal Alumina for conducting such event.
The Inspection Team acknowledged the processes adopted and carried out in mines, the long-term vision for community reciprocation and sustainability initiatives. They also encouraged the Mines team for conducting such awareness program to sensitise the employees and well as the stakeholders.
