Bhubaneswar(By PR): To promote rural sports and culture and to encourage the local sports talent of this region, a block level rural volley ball tournament was organized by Utkal Alumina International Limited a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries limited of Aditya Birla Group in association with JogisanyasiYuvak Sangha, Jogiparitunda from 24th –27th February 2020 at village Jogiparitunda. Total 16 teams from 16 Mining peripheral villages of Kashipur blockparticipated in the said tournament.
The tournament was jointly inaugurated by Mr.ShaikAlinur, Dist. Sports Officer, Rayagada and Dr. LopamudraPriyadarshini, Head- CSR, CR & Sustainability, Land & R&R in the presence of other CSR officials of Utkal Alumina on 24th Feb 2023.
The high voltage final match was played between Kodipariand Andirakanch Teamin which Kodipari won the champion’s trophy while Andirakanch become the Runners off.
Distinguished guests Mr. Dayanidhi Bagh, PD Watershed, Mr. Pawan Singh, G.M.-Security and Dr. Lopamudra Priyadarshini, Head- CSR, CR & Sustainability attended the valedictory session and encouraged the sports talent as well as awarded them for their performances.
Both the winner’s and runner’s off team were awarded with Cash Prizes while all the team who have participated in the tournament were awarded with Volley Balls and Volley Nets as a token of appreciations.
Mr.Shaik Alinur, Dist. Sports Officer, Rayagada acknowledged the effort of Utkal Alumina in encouraging a sports atmosphere in this tribal belt by identifying and nurturing rural sports talents.
Mr. Mazhar Beig the unit Head and President applauded the winning team as well as the participating team to make the event a grand success. We are committed towards promoting rural sports and culture in this tribal hinterland as expressed by Mr. Beig. He also mentioned that the local sports talents of this region will be scouted and promoted to participate at state and national level sports platform.
The event was proved to be a great success with strong support andappreciation from the community. The entire event was coordinated by team CSR of Utkal Alumina.
